About BestOnlinePsychiatry.com

Who we are, why we built this site, and how we keep our online psychiatry rankings independent and useful for the patients who rely on them.

Last updated: June 4, 2026

Our Mission

The decision to seek mental health care is rarely simple. The decision of which online psychiatry provider to trust with that care is often even harder.

We built BestOnlinePsychiatry.com because the current landscape is confusing by default. Dozens of services have launched in the past few years. They differ in ways that genuinely matter — who delivers the care, which conditions they treat, whether they prescribe controlled substances, how much you pay, what your insurance covers, and how each platform actually operates day-to-day — but those differences are too often buried in marketing copy, intake flows, and fine print that most patients never see until after they have signed up.

Our role is to surface those differences clearly and rank providers on a transparent, weighted methodology. We do this independently. Our editorial rankings were established and published before any affiliate or monetary relationship was negotiated with any featured brand, and providers without affiliate programs are reviewed on the same editorial footing as those with them.

This site does not sell or provide medical care. It is an editorial review publication. Our goal is to give readers enough clear, comparable, and verifiable information to make a confident decision — and then to step out of the way.

For more on how we evaluate providers, see our methodology. For more on how we maintain editorial independence, see our editorial standards.

About Chris Pastorius

Chris Pastorius

Chris Pastorius

Founder & Senior Editor

Chris has spent the last eleven years working in healthcare and health tech, with a focus on patient experience and consumer-health content. His career has spanned multiple clinical areas — mental health, women's health, and others — with a meaningful portion specifically in telehealth, watching the modality grow from a niche experiment into mainstream care delivery.

That work gives him a direct view of how online care actually operates behind the scenes: how patients are matched to clinicians, how intake flows are designed, how care quality varies between platforms, and how easy it is for someone outside the industry to misread what they are signing up for. The transparency gaps that frustrate patients are not accidents — they are features of how most platforms market themselves. This site is his attempt to close some of those gaps.

His investment in mental health is also personal. He has watched people close to him struggle with mental health challenges, sometimes without the support they needed to intervene in their own situations early enough. He supports To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), a nonprofit dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. Music is his own source of clarity and hope, and the intersection of mental health and music is where much of his outside-of-work focus lives.

His goal with BestOnlinePsychiatry.com is to make the often-overwhelming decision of choosing an online psychiatry provider easier — and to make the information that matters more visible than the marketing.

A note on editorial independence. Chris has previously worked in the telehealth industry. This is disclosed publicly on every page of the site and does not influence editorial rankings, which are determined by our independent methodology.

Editorial Team

Beyond Chris, the site is built and reviewed by a small team:

  • Medical reviewer: Christopher Betley, PMHNP. A licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with multi-state telehealth practice (15 states), Christopher signs off on all clinical content before publication. His clinical focus is on diagnosing mental health conditions and determining whether medication should be a component of treatment. NPI: 1922695501. Read more about our process in Editorial Standards.
  • Editorial standards & corrections. How we choose sources, fact-check claims, and handle errors is documented in our Editorial Standards and Corrections Policy.

We are a small operation by design. We would rather cover a focused set of providers thoroughly than chase scale at the cost of editorial depth.
